YOU ARE AWESOME. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET.

THE PILGRIM'S PATH

The Pilgrim's Path is a step-by-step guide I created to help you make the transition from where you are now to achieving what you really want out of your career, relationship and lifestyle.
"As a writer, I see a world full of narrative threads intertwined and weaved into one giant epic fantasy, where every character I meet has his or her own interesting backstory that can, and will, affect my path if I allow it."
- Eugene Tay, excerpt from the upcoming book The Pilgrim's Path.

If you can accept that no good story was ever written about a protagonist who got to the end by rejecting challenges then you are one step closer to accepting that the hardships you face in life only makes you that much more interesting* to the people around you.

(*unless you're a whiner, then that just makes you annoying.)

The Pilgrim's Path is a step-by-step guide I created to help you make the transition from your current point in life to achieving what you really want out of your career, relationship and lifestyle.

The basis of The Pilgrim's Path was inspired by The Hero’s Journey, a narrative pattern identified by American scholar Joseph Campbell, and the interactive co-operative storytelling system created by game designer Ernest Gary Gygax.

I found that when I view my life as an epic story waiting to be written it becomes easier to tear down the mental barriers that prevent me from being the hero I can be.

When faced with difficult situations or when a need arises that requires me to perform a certain task, I am able to compartmentalize my thought process and focus on my actions without letting insecurities and self-doubt get in the way.

This method is perfect for:
  • People who want to make a change but don’t know where to start.
  • People who find traditional motivational methods ineffective.
  • People who are over thinkers or can’t shake off negative thoughts.
  • People who have deep-seated insecurities and fear.
  • People who need a mentor figure in their life to help them along the way.

This method will NOT be suitable for:
  • People who are not emotionally prepared to change.
  • People who are cynical and deliberately find fault with any system.

The techniques and methods I’ll be sharing are all tried and tested over time by myself and others that I’ve coached. Just because one method works brilliantly for someone doesn’t mean it has to have the same impact on you. You may find some methods work better for you than others. That’s alright. Focus on the ones that work for you. In order for your transformation to be successful, you must find this entire journey comfortable but with a slight degree of healthy pressure.

Remember the time you signed up for a gym membership to get your abs quick? It never worked out, did it? That’s because our mind, when untrained, will automatically procrastinate and find excuses to get out of doing something that makes us uncomfortable.

As you progress in The Pilgrim’s Path, you will begin to understand yourself better and discover new and exciting things about yourself. You may find it scary at first but that’s normal because delving into the unknown is always scary. Ride the wave and try to enjoy these moments.

You may be s natural skeptic or maybe you’re at a dark place in your life. That’s okay too. I’ve been there before and I know exactly how you feel. I only ask that you keep an open mind and allow yourself to experiment with the journey that I’m about to take you on.

As a mentor and a coach, my job is to share insights with you and create a safe place for you to open up. The changes will ultimately come from within you. In fact, the changes will be so subtle and progressive that the only evidence of your transformation will be in the way that “stuff just seems to work for you”.

There are no short cuts in The Pilgrim’s Path, so feel free to take all the time you need.

THE PILGRIM'S PATH

The Pilgrim's Path consists of 10 Stages over 3 Acts.
ACT 1
The Ordinary World (Awareness Stage)
This is where you are right now. The mundane life. It's your safe place. The dastardly comfort zone. I call that the Ordinary World. You are beginning to feel a tad discontented with where you are. At this stage you will begin to understand more about yourself: your personality, capabilities, limitations and outlook on life.
The Call to Adventure (Motivation Stage)
Something about your current situation stirs a deep emotion within you. Maybe it's your bleak career prospect, series of failed relationships, or being envious of how others seem to be doing better than you. You want to do something different but the risks are too great. You don't know where to start or what to do.

"I found that when I view my life as an epic story waiting to be written, it becomes easier to tear down the mental barriers that prevent me from being the hero I can be."

"You are ready or you wouldn't be here reading this."

The Refusal (Denial Stage)
You, like so many others before you, are held back by fear, self-doubt, and the lack of the appropriate skills. You question your decision and teeter on the edge. The problem(s) you face may seem too much to bear and you feel that you have too many things right now on your plate. You will get to it next time.
